America's Jobless

What A Jobs-Focused State-of-the-Union Address Ought To Say About Immigration

What Pres. Obama says -- or doesn't say -- about immigration will be the easiest tip-off to whether his first priority truly is putting Americans back to work. Or whether his talk about jobs is mainly a political ploy to gain back support from Independent voters. Here is what he should say . . .

Rep. Gary Miller Says Amnesty Will Kill American Jobs

Rep. Gary Miller

Published:

In an op-ed piece published by the Daily Caller, Rep. Gary Miller criticizes the Administration and Congressional leadership for not doing enough for America's 15 million unemployed. Specifically, Rep. Miller says that the Gutierrez Amnesty bill introduced in the House would "jeopardize millions of jobs for Americans and legal residents."

Mass. Shocker Lesson to Dems About Jobs (need a solution that is cheap and credible)

Democrats can win if they can persuade voters that they have practical ways to put Americans back to work without spending a fortune of taxpayer money. Reductions in legal and illegal immigration fit the bill exactly. And Congressional Republican leaders through their inaction have left the immigration solution available for smart, moderate Democrats to pick up and win with. Any chance that we'll see more Democrats doing that after yesterday's Massachusetts shocker?

Rep. Lamar Smith (R-Texas), who also serves as the Ranking Member of the House Judiciary Committee, criticized Pres. Obama's 'catch-and-release' immigration policy after learning of an incident in Massachusetts. Why Does SEIU Lobby For More Foreign Workers While Its U.S. Members Are So Damaged By The Competition?

Charles' blog raises even more questions about why the SEIU is fighting so hard for illegal foreign workers while its current union members find it so hard to keep their jobs in the face of foreign labor competition. The SEIU led the way last week in sponsoring the pro-amnesty march in Washington and in attacking NumbersUSA's freedom of speech and mobility.

My wife liked what I said because she thought I sounded nice and empathetic in conceding that religious leaders are not hard-hearted toward unemployed Americans but just driven more by their compassion for foreign workers (including illegal ones). Perhaps the most striking results of a massive new Zogby poll show that while their religious leaders mouth the arguments of the Chamber of Commerce for more cheap foreign labor, the vast majority of church and synagogue members show a strong preference for low-wage and jobless Americans. . . .

H-1B visas see slow demand but finally reach limit

Roy Beck, president of Numbers USA, a group that favors immigration restrictions, said the visa is too often used to bring in average rather than top talent. "We don't advocate reducing the 65,000 cap," he said. "We just advocate increasing the criteria so H-1Bs are only used to hire really top quality programmers."http://www.mercurynews.com/politics-government/ci_14066922

Stung by Criticism He's Abandoning Black Poor, Pres. Obama Ignores Easiest & Biggest Solution

Acknowledging that unemployment among Black Americans is agonizingly high, Pres. Obama says it would be inappropriate to do anything aimed just at Blacks. He says he must help Blacks with actions that also help other Americans and that he continues to look for those solutions. Like all people blinded by ideology, Mr. Obama is his own worst enemy in not seeing that reducing overall immigration is in fact a magic solution that meets all his criteria.

A major pro-amnesty coalition has just provided one answer. An article promoted on its website says that illegal aliens are better workers than Americans. If somebody has to be unemployed, it should be the less-desirable American workers who don't have jobs, the article says. Unbelievable? Read on . . .

Immigration Enforcement Could Open Up Jobs For Unemployed U.S. Workers, Speakers Say

Immigration is contributing to economic disparity by depressing the wages of U.S. workers, according to Roy Beck, president of Numbers USA. Beck told the forum that the best way to protect U.S. workers is to actively enforce immigration laws and reduce the number of visas and green cards issued to foreign nationals. "Immigration enforcement is about creating jobs for unemployed Americans," because "when a government action results in an illegal foreign worker leaving a job, an unemployed American gets to go back to work," Beck said.

Napolitano expressed her desire to legalize 12 million illegal aliens as part of a "comprehensive immigration reform" adding that it would provide a 'boon' to the economy. Immigration Suspension Urged During Congressional Testimony

In a congressional forum Thursday, NumbersUSA President Roy Beck urged Members of Congress to immediately introduce and pass legislation to suspend most immigration in light of the nation's 10.2% U-3 unemployment rate. Three other experts testified that unemployment among Americans is so bad that there is no doubt that every job emptied by pushing an illegal foreign worker out of it would quickly be filled by an American.

(b) Top U.S. immigration official Napolitano claims her enforcement is working against illegal immigration and, thus, the nation needs to bring in more foreign workers BECAUSE THE U.S. ECONOMY IS SO BAD! On this Veterans Day, I have to ask the nation's elites, "Whose side are you on?"
