524,000 More Americans Lose Jobs in DEC ...... Amnesty Leaders Blast NumbersUSA For Urging Fewer Foreign Workers

America's service industry lost another 273,000 jobs in December, but a major union leader in the industry renewed his call for permanently tying up 7 million jobs (largely service jobs) with the illegal aliens who now hold them. At the same time, other national amnesty leaders yesterday accused NumbersUSA of ugly, divisive politics for our call to suspend most foreign-labor importation while 10 million unemployed Americans look for jobs.

Our Urgent Request of Obama -- Stop Importing Foreign Workers

A national crisis requires bold action. NumbersUSA today urged President-Elect Obama to immediately suspend most importation of foreign workers to give relief to the American workers who will be left without a job if the importation continues. Unlike all other emergency recommendations, our call to action would not cost hundreds of billions of dollars. In fact, it would cost almost nothing.

Foreign-Worker Arrivals Continue as Jobless Claims Rise to 26-Year High

Published:

The United States will import another 140,000 foreign workers this month despite worsening jobless numbers. Initial jobless claims were at 586,000 last week, which is 30,000 more than the prior week's claims. The number was the highest since November 1982, and the four-week moving claims average is also at its highest level since 1982. The nation’s counterproductive immigration policies make the situation even harder to fix.

Which States' Delegations Were Especially Naughty and Put a Lump of Coal in Their Workers' Christmas Stockings?

We can track them even though the chambers of Congress are empty on this Christmas Eve. We know which state congressional delegations are the aspiring Scrooges by what they left behind -- a clear trail of votes and co-sponsorships making it easy for us to give out our awards for the Naughtiest Congressional Delegations (and also the NICEST!) when it comes to American workers who are unemployed -- or fear they soon will be. WHAT'S WRONG WITH RHODE ISLAND? 2nd worst economy allows its Members of Congress to massively import workers

News stories are focusing on the nation's second-highest unemployment rate and 11 straight months of job losses in Rhode Island. But I focus on the fact that the state's two Senators and two U.S. Representatives almost invariably act to increase the importation of foreign workers and to reward illegal workers. Why do Rhode Island's citizens allow that to happen?

U.S. Workers Crowding Out Immigrant Laborers

For the first time in a decade, unskilled immigrants are competing with Americans for work. And evidence is emerging that tens of thousands of Hispanic immigrants are withdrawing from the labor market as U.S. workers crowd them out of potential jobs. The Washington-based publication Congressional Quarterly featured NumbersUSA's call to suspend most legal migration in light of recent U.S. employment statistics. President-elect Obama has requested that Congress have a fiscal stimulus package waiting on his desk for his signature when he takes office on January 20. The stimulus is projected to be up to $700 billion with the aim of creating 2.5 million jobs over 2 years. That is $280,000 per job, or $140 billion per each 500,000 jobs created.

533,000 Jobs Lost in NOV -- But the Feds Imported Another 140,000 Foreign Workers the Same Month!

Obama Plan Would Save/Create 2.5 Million Jobs -- Much Cheaper IMMIGRATION MORATORIUM Would Save 2.5 Million Jobs

Mr. Obama announced a plan costing hundreds of billions of dollars that he hopes will put 2.5 million Americans to work over the next 2 years. But current immigration and visa policies are on auto-pilot so that during those same 2 years the government would bring in at least 2.5 million MORE foreign workers, potentially using up all of Mr. Obama's new jobs! A moratorium on immigration would reap virtually the same benefits (saving 2.5 million jobs for Americans) but not cost even 1% what Mr. Obama is proposing.

The callousness of the media elite toward U.S. working stiffs continues to amaze me.

Remember all the rhetoric at the two Presidential nominating conventions about standing up for America's workers and their families in tough times? With the corportate special interests calling shots, the only way to stop this callous move is if hundreds of thousands of you reading this decide to send a fax and make a phone call.

Senate Recesses Without Taking Up E-Verify Reauthorization

The Senate started its summer recess without taking up the E-Verify reauthorization bill (H.R. 6633) the House passed by a 407-2 margin. Sen. Robert Menendez (D-N.J.) has been holding E-Verify hostage in the Senate until he gets 500,000 additional permanent foreign worker visas. These are simple "skilled" visas, where an individual doesn't need any specialized training or education (other than two years of college). As such, the legislation would keep a half-million Americans out of work.
