House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, and other leaders briefed the House Republican caucus on a $659 million in supplemental spending bill that would reportedly amend the 2008 human trafficking law Obama deems responsible for preventing his deportation of surge aliens, but not cut off operating funds for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, which most Republicans say largely sparked the surge. Boehner plans a House floor vote on the measure on Thursday before adjournment for the August recess.

Goodlatte: Enforcement Before House Immigration Votes

Speaking at a Washington, D.C. event, Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte said that immigration law enforcement and border controls must be “up and operating effectively” before the House will vote on any immigration legislation. “Enforcement has to take place first,” he said. Randolph-Macon University Professor Dave Brat has defeated House Majority Leader Eric Cantor in Virginia's 7th Congressional District GOP primary by a 12 point margin. Brat completed the NumbersUSA immigration-reduction survey and was rated as a True Reformer, whereas just yesterday, Cantor called on Pres. Obama to forge a deal on immigration that would include an amnesty for some illegal aliens.

The Amnesty Threat Level is at Code Red this week after our Capitol Hill team got word last week that Reps. Mick Mulvaney (R-S.C.), Paul Ryan (R-Wisc.), and Mario Diaz Balart (R-Fla.) are polling their fellow House Republicans to measure support for moving an amnesty bill before the August recess. Reportedly, if they can get enough Republicans on board with their plan, House Leadership will do a formal whip count and move an immigration bill to the floor of the House before the August recess.

Former Congressman and Lt. Col. Allen West Speaks Out Against Military Amnesty

Former U.S. Congressman and Lt. Col. Allen West expressed his opposition to a potential move by Pres. Obama to use military enlistment as a vehicle to grant amnesty to illegal aliens. Two results from Texas' GOP Primary runoffs on Tuesday secured nominations for candidates who oppose amnesty and support tougher enforcement. Brian Babin defeated the heavily backed Ben Streusand in the GOP Primary runoff in Texas' 36th Congressional District on Tuesday to fill the seat being vacated by Rep. Steve Stockman (R-Texas). ENLIST Act amendment out of order, signaling a victory for anti-amnesty activists. Denham's amendment would have granted amnesty to illegal aliens who came to the country under a certain age and signed up to serve in the military. Retired Military Officers Oppose Amnesty in NDAA

A group of 16 influential military leaders signed onto a letter sent to House Armed Services Chairman Buck McKeon to express their opposition to adding either Rep. Jeff Denham's (R-Calif.) ENLIST Act or Rep. Mike Coffman's (R-Colo.) Military Enlistment Act to the National Defense Authorization Act. Both bills would grant amnesty to certain illegal aliens who enlist in the military. Within minutes of the Associated Press calling last night's North Carolina 2nd Congressional District primary for Rep. Renee Ellmers, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerburg's pro-amnesty group, FWD.us, congratulated her on both its Facebook page and on Twitter. FWD.us called the election results a "clear sign voters are ready for immigration reform" after dumping a six-figure ad buy into her district to help her win the primary. The ads, however, claimed she opposes amnesty, but FWD.us' vision of "immigration reform" clearly includes amnesty for the nation's 11-18 million illegal aliens.

House Armed Services Committee Chairman Buck McKeon, R-Calif., said he will not include the “ENLIST” Act amnesty in the draft defense authorization bill he introduces. McKeon’s decision was a setback for the measure’s sponsor, Rep. Jeff Denham, R-Calif., who had been quietly trying to include it in the Chairman’s draft. Vice President and potential presidential candidate Joe Biden gave a speech last week in which he said the 11 million illegal aliens in the United States “are already Americans.” Famous for pandering to audiences and, uh, stretching the truth, Biden also has been a champion for causes irrespective of whether they are consistent with U.S. laws or the Constitution. So if he’s misguided enough to think illegal aliens are citizens, perhaps one day Biden will dispense with the formalities of an election and declare he’s already president. Or at least the comic-in-chief.

CIS: 68,000 Illegal Aliens with Criminal Convictions Set Free in 2013

A new report from the Center for Immigration Studies has determined that the Obama administration released 68,000 illegal aliens with criminal convictions in 2013. Additionally, Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents reported 722,000 encounters with illegal aliens in 2013, but only followed through with immigration charges for 195,000 of them. The conclusions are based on data from ICE's 2013 year-end "Weekly Departures and Detention Report."
