Public Description:

H.R. 3130, the Protect Family Values at the Border Act, would focus largely on the humane treatment of illegal aliens detained by Customs and Border Protection (CBP). This bill would establish minimum standards for short-term detention facilities and limits the removal of aliens at the southern border to the daylight hours. However, this bill would also strictly limit Federal law enforcement from repatriating individuals, as it requires the Department of Homeland Security to consider humanitarian concerns, physical safety, the best interest of the alien’s child, family unity, and “public interest factors,” which would serve to prevent nearly all removals from taking place.
