The immigration surge from 2021-2025 was the largest in U.S. history, doubling down on a broken promise that Washington, D.C. has left unacknowledged and unaddressed for sixty years. Voters decisively backed immigration reductions in the 2024 elections. The Dignity Act flies in the face of that mandate. We have an alternative vision. And we need the citizen lobby to rise up and state our preference.

Abolishing ICE would be a radical step toward open borders. Tackling the border crisis with ICE alone is an unsustainable strategy. But these aren’t the only two options. The entire burden of the border crisis cannot be placed on the shoulders of the men and women of Immigration and Customs Enforcement. President Biden expanded TPS as part of his broader effort to go around immigration limits set by Congress. During the Biden Administration, number of Temporary Protected Status beneficiaries tripled from roughly 400,000 to approximately 1.3 million.
