Poll shows mass opposition to Pres. Obama's executive amnesties, support for GOP efforts to defund

A new Paragon Insights poll of 1,593 registered voters found that Americans oppose Pres. Obama's executive actions on immigration when the entire policy, including the issuance of work permits, is explained. The poll found that Americans oppose Pres. Obama's actions by a 58-to-36 margin when told that the policy allows illegal aliens to "avoid deportation and seek jobs in the United States".

The President's policies were found to be especially unpopular with blue collar Americans and those with incomes between $50,000 and $100,000. Blue collar Americans oppose Pres. Obama's actions 62-to-32 with 41% strongly opposing and only 18% strongly supporting the policies. Among middle class Americans, 43% strongly oppose the President's policies, while only 16% strongly support.

But the strongest opposition came among independent women voters; 43% of independent women strongly oppose the policies, while a mere 9% strongly support them.

The majority of Americans support recent actions taken by the House of Representatives that defunded Pres. Obama's executive actions on immigration. By a 53-to-36 margin, voters support a plan by "Republicans in Congress" to bar funds to implement the actions. The House approved two amendments to the DHS funding bill that blocked funds for the President's actions. The bill is still awaiting consideration in the Senate.
