Pizza Company Will Pay H-1B Worker $130K in Back Wages

SRV Pizza Inc. has agreed to pay H-1B worker, Subhash Tehlan, $130,629 in back wages after failing to pay the required wages and overtime during a four-year period. This agreement comes after the Dept. of Labor (DOL) completed an investigation of the business, specifically in regard to wages paid to Tehlan.

In total the company is responsible for almost $255,000 in back wages according the DOL’s determination letter to the company. The letter said that the company, “failed to pay required wages for productive and nonproductive time and failed to pay overtime”.

The pizza company made a deal in effort resolve the issue, “so as to avoid the burden, expense and delay of further litigation,” the DOL said.

In the end the company will pay the $130k but will not confirm or deny the DOL’s allegations. According to the deal the company is required to make the first payment of $60,000 in 30 days and must make payments every month for the next 18-months.
