More than 60 percent of the misprinted IDs, permits and driver's licenses issued to non-citizens under a new program in Colorado last month have been returned, according to state officials.

The cards were printed without the black label that indicates they are "Not Valid For Federal Identification, Voting or Public Benefit Purposes." They will be exchanged for new, valid ones, officials said.

As of Monday, 335 of the 524 misprinted cards had been returned, according to a Department of Revenue spokeswoman.

The state's vendor, MorphoTrust, reported discovering the printing error on Sept. 8, a little more than a month after the cards were printed. According to MorphoTrust, software error caused the cards to be printed incorrectly.
