Twenty states, all with Republican Attorneys General, sued the Biden admin. on Tuesday over a recent change in immigration policy that would allow 360,000 aliens to legally enter the United States each year from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela.
The lawsuit was filed in a federal court in Texas and accused the Biden admin. of “arbitrarily” creating significant changes to U.S. immigration law and in doing so, overstepping its constitutional authority. Leading the states is Texas AG Ken Paxton, who has successfully halted Biden's immigration proposals in the courts before.
The Associated Press reports that “the Department of Homeland Security did not immediately respond to a request seeking comment on the lawsuit late Tuesday.”

The changes that Biden announced this month amounted to his boldest move yet to confront the arrival of migrants that have spiraled since he took office two years ago. The four nationalities that Biden addressed now make up the majority of those crossing the border illegally.
Throughout the fiscal year 2022, Customs and Border Protection recorded a record-breaking 2.38 million illegal alien stops a the southwest southern border. This is the first time the yearly total has topped 2 million.
