DOJ and State Dept. Partner to Protect American Workers from Discrimination

The Department of Justice and the State Department have formalized a partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) where they have agreed to share information to protect American workers from discrimination and target employers who commit visa fraud or misuse their visas.

Labor Department says Visa Fraud no longer a top concern

Last week, the Labor Department's Office of the Inspector General announced that foreign worker visa fraud was no longer a "top management concern" for the agency. The announcement is one of the first decisions made by new Labor Secretary Thomas Perez and comes just a few months after the massive tech firm, Infosys, was forced to pay $34 million to the federal government for committing fraud over a host of foreign visa programs.

CEO of Tech School in NJ Charged with Visa Fraud

The CEO of the New Jersey-based PC Tech computer training school and the owner of a consulting firm have been charged by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents for student visa fraud. The two companies worked together under the cover of the tech school to help foreign students receive student visas, but never verified the information of the foreign nationals.

California Man Arrested in H-1B Visa Scheme

Last week, a Riverside, Calif. man was arrested for allegedly filing almost 1,000 fraudulent documents with the U.S. Department of Labor and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in an effort to obtain H-1B visas for illegal aliens, according to an ICE press release.
