AG Sessions: Asylum System is Rampant with 'Abuse and Fraud'

During his speech today at the department’s Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR), Attorney General Jeff Sessions criticized the asylum process saying that it is rampant with “abuse and fraud”. Sessions said that many immigrants are taking advantage of the loopholes in the system to enter and then stay in the U.S. illegally.

DOJ to Sue Colorado Corporation for Discriminating Against American Workers

U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced that the Dept. of Justice will file a lawsuit against Crop Production Services, Inc. for violating the Immigration and Nationality Act by discriminating against American workers. Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced on Monday that the Trump administration is rescinding the unconstitutional executive amnesty that granted deferred action and work permits to nearly 800,000 illegal aliens living in the United States. Former Pres. Obama began the amnesty in 2012, and Pres. Trump pledged to end it while running for President.

DOJ Pulls Federal Grant Money from Sanctuary Jurisdictions

The Department of Justice announced that any jurisdiction who refuses to cooperate with federal immigration enforcement efforts will no longer be eligible to receive money from the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Programs (“Byrne JAG”). Congress can allocate up to $1.095 billion a year on the Byrne JAG program making it one of the DOJ’s largest federal grant programs for state and local jurisdictions.

Justice Dept. Clarifies Sanctuary Jurisdiction Sanctions

Attorney General Jeff Sessions issued a memo clarifying the type of grants jurisdictions could lose if they fail to comply with the president’s Jan. 25 executive order and federal anti-sanctuary law. Only jurisdictions that "willfully refuse to comply with 8 U.S.C. 1373" will be considered sanctuary jurisdictions. The at-risk grants are those administered by the Departments of Justice and Homeland Security.

Sessions: 'Catch and Release' Immigration Policy is Over

During his visit to the U.S.-Mexico border Attorney General Jeff Sessions made remarks on the new Justice Dept. memo that sets new immigration enforcement priorities that will end the “catch and release” practices that were used under the Obama administration. The memo orders federal prosecutors to prioritize criminal charges against illegal aliens who have a record of prior deportations or other criminal convictions and those who have helped to smuggle other illegal aliens across the border.
