Boehner: 'No Alternative' to Defunding Executive Amnesty, Is Affront to Constitution

House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, spoke on the floor today in advance of votes on amendments that would block funding for President Obama’s executive amnesties. He spoke in favor of the amendments and mentioned 22 times in which the president said he could not implement amnesty without congressional approval.

At a meeting today with law enforcement organizations, President Obama made the case for comprehensive immigration reform by saying it is necessary "for our safety and security." He also said there is a "narrow window" of two or three months to pass legislation in Congress before election season derails further efforts.

Speaking before the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce today, House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, said he wants to take up immigration reform legislation in small chunks, starting first with border security. On the question of whether the House will consider legislation this year, Boehner said it depends on whether he can "bring my members along."

According to a Wall Street Journal report, Speaker John Boehner and certain key House Republicans recently told donors and special interest groups they still want to pass immigration legislation this year. President Obama continues his push for comprehensive amnesty today in a meeting he hopes will persuade the American Legion to drop their opposition to inclusion of the ENLIST Act in the defense authorization bill.
