Rep. ZZlastnameZZ voted against the Jackson Lee amendment to H.R. 10, the 9/11 Recommendations Implementation Act. The Jackson Lee Amendment would have struck from H.R. 10 Section 3032, which would have prevented terrorists and aliens convicted of serious crimes from avoiding deportation by claiming protection under the United Nations Convention Against Torture. Under current law, these terrorists and dangerous criminals must be released into American communities if they claim that they may face torture if returned to their home country, because the Supreme Court has held that aliens may not be detained indefinitely.
