After the New York Times published a story in June covering how Walt Disney World forced American employees to train their foreign-worker replacements, outrage surfaced across the country.  A group of concerned citizens decided to do something about it by forming the organization Boycott Disney Now.

Boycott Disney Now was founded by two activists who have been directly harmed by our country’s immigration policies.  When Jack Oliver and Paul Arnold saw the story about Disney’s H1-B abuse, they knew they could not stand by without a fight.

The group’s mission is simple, “Protect American Jobs!” They plan to do this by sending a strong message to Congress and corporations.  Other concerned Americans are encouraged to sign the Boycott Disney petition.  This petition demands that Congress issue a moratorium on H-1B visas until it is clearly established that American college students and other qualified American workers have been given first priority in filling STEM jobs (science, technology, engineering and math).

The abuse of the H1-B visa is rampant. Many U.S. companies are exploiting legal loopholes to replace U.S. workers in order to pay foreign replacements a lower wage.  There has been story after story written on this abuse and finally, the main stream media is beginning to notice.

But even with all of this attention, some in Washington continue to work directly against the interest of American workers by pushing for an increase in H1-B visas. Boycott Disney Now hopes that Americans of all walks of life will join them in the fight against this flawed thinking

If you live near Disney World or Disney Land, you are invited to stand with American STEM workers and protest this visa abuse.  There will be rallies in Orlando, Florida and Anaheim, California in October.

If you don’t live near the protests locations, you can still stand in solidarity with American workers by signing the Boycott Disney petition here.
