See Roy Beck's Ratings for All Presidential Candidates on Immigration Issues
NumbersUSA Founder and CEO Roy Beck has analyzed and ranked all presidential candidates based on the campaign promises they have made and their past actions in elected office. NumbersUSA encourages all candidates to turn away from bad or poor positions of the past, and asks concerned voters to encourage them in working towards "true" immigration reform solutions that don't reward illegal aliens. Per our policy, candidates will be rewarded with improved ratings when they adopt the preferences of the majority of Americans for far less overall immigration. Nonetheless, it matters what a candidate has done in the past, so twenty-five percent of these ratings is based on past actions while in office, since a longer term commitment to less immigration suggests consistency and perhaps a deeper commitment to the promises being made. As the presidential campaign season has progressed, the poor immigration candidates have gotten worse, promising to use high levels of legal and illegal immigration to do more harm to America's poor, its middle classes, its natural environment and its taxpayers. No remaining candidates yet qualify as excellent on the issues and it is looking increasingly unlikely that such a reversal of circumstances will present themselves, based on the fact that Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.), Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) and Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) all supported the failed Senate immigration bill of 2007 which would have rewarded 12 million illegal aliens already residing within our nation's borders with amnesty. So, what you now see is basically one clearly defined group of front-runner candidates at the lower ends of Roy Beck's ratings, and the more favorable Republican candidates, Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) and Gov. Mike Huckabee (R-Ark.), who have yet to drop-out of contention for the Republican nomination. Be sure to look at all 16 of the immigration ratings for each candidate at: http://www.CongressGrades.org. Please note that our ratings do NOT amount to endorsements. Nor do they convey anything about the character, the strength or any other positions about the candidates. We know that every one of these candidates has supporters among the users of NumbersUSA for a lot of different reasons.
