ACLU & Catholic Bishops & Evangelicals & the Gutierrez Gang Expose Their Radical Agenda
We didn't get an actual bill today, but the pro-amnesty forces were pretty clear about what they want us American citizens to swallow in "comprehensive immigration reform."
Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-Ill.) pulled off a big rally at the Capitol today, complete with prayer vigils and cleric-collared spokespersons, to announce the key ingredients of the comprehensive amnesty bill that eventually will be written and perhaps brought to a vote early next year.
Gutierrez has become the leader and face of the movement to force a vote on the amnesty, even if it means his Democratic Party losing dozens of seats in next year's elections. Our Capitol Hill Team has learned that Gutierrez has threatened Pres. Obama that if he doesn't force a vote on amnesty early in the year that Gutierrez will spark anti-Obama protests in the Hispanic neighborhoods across the nation. Gutierrez is the one Congressman who has spent enough time in dozens of communities and who has the connections to create that kind of grassroots rebellion. Obama's team apparently takes the threat seriously, thus the reason Gutierrez seems to hold such power over the Administration's actions.
MORE FOREIGN WORKERS IS THE KEY ELEMENT
Although Gutierrez gave us few true details today, the amnesty for 12-20 million illegal alien workers and dependents is just a small part of his plan.
He wants increases in every kind of immigration. The current flood of foreign labor is a trickle compared with the foreign labor that will inundate U.S. occupations if Gutierrez gets his way.
Gutierrez' somewhat vague remarks suggest that his bill will gut or minimize current enforcement strategies. But, according to him, we will need little enforcement to stop illegal immigration in the future because we will be allowing so much chain migration of extended family, so much importation of unskilled labor and highly skilled labor that just about anybody who thinks they can get a job will be given a visa.
ACLU PUTS DOWN ITS FOOT ON ANY ENFORCEMENT
The American Civil Liberties Union:
urge(d) lawmakers to reject any proposed immigration reform measures that include a biometric national worker ID system or a universal compulsory electronic employment verification system.
So the vision of the pro-amnesty groups for the future is no mandatory E-Verify system to keep future illegal aliens from getting jobs.
And they are opposing even pro-amnesty Sen. Schumer's (D-N.Y.) desire to replace E-Verify with a biometric ID system.
Furthermore, the ACLU called on Congress to:
reject any legislation that gives state and local authorities a role in enforcing federal civil immigration laws.
This past week has been eye-opening for anybody who believes that the "comprehensive immigration reform" bunch just wants amnesty for today's illegal aliens but would like to stop future flows.
Theodore Cardinal McCarrick, Archbishop Emeritus of Washington D.C., said:
U.S. bishops have expressed concern with the border fence which has been built along our southern border.
He said the U.S. Catholic bishops are hopeful that the comprehensive immigration reform bill will allow so many millions of extended family members and new workers into the country that:
. . . (there no longer will be a) need for continuing to increase the number of border patrol agents and the amount and length of border fencing.
EVANGELICALS IN AGREEMENT WITH NEARLY OPEN BORDERS PLANS
After NumbersUSA led the effort last week to expose the decision by 41 evangelical denominations to join Rep. Gutierrez' crusade for a mass legalization of illegal aliens and a huge increase in foreign workers, we were accused from high church bureaucracies of fomenting rumors and falsehoods.
One church head put out a public statement on us that stated:
It is most unfortunate that some spread wild false rumors and outright lies regarding what the National Association of Evangelicals actually adopted.
I would note, though, this paragraph that is part of the 41 evangelical denominations' request of Congress:
That the government establish a sound, equitable process toward earned legal status for currently undocumented immigrants, who desire to embrace the responsibilities and privileges that accompany citizenship.

Friends, it is no rumor or lie that the National Association of Evangelicals claims that its most important breakthrough is in rallying for a path to U.S. citizenship for 12-20 million illegal aliens in this country.
According to these evangelical denominations . . . according to the Catholic Bishops . . . . according to the ACLU . . . according to Rep. Gutierrez and his throngs of open-borders admirers in rallies across the country today . . .
. . . . according to all of them, the U.S. is plagued with LABOR SHORTAGES.
The only reason we have illegal immigration, according to all of them, is because we have labor shortages and don't give out enough green cards each year to meet the demand for new workers.
Typical of the "comprehensive immigration reform" crowd is this from the National Association of Evangelicals document:
At the same time, many jobs and industries rely on immigrant workers. Current quotas do not grant enough visas to meet these needs, nor does federal immigration law provide sufficient opportunities to others who also come seeking gainful employment.
-- NAE document
If you dare bring up that our narrow unemployment rate of nearly 10% (and our U-6 Unemployment Rate of 17%) suggests that instead we should be SUSPENDING most immigration, you will be accused of xenophobia, nativism and hatred.
Listen to the Rev. Samuel Rodriguez, president of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference, who has worked his way into the top power echelon of the National Association of Evangelicals:
. . . we urge both parties to repudiate all vestiges of xenophobia and nativism that saturates this debate. For the fact of the matter is that these immigrants are God fearing, hard working, family loving Children of God who reflect the values of our founding fathers and embrace the tenets of the American Constitution, The Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights. Finally, we understand that every day that passes without Comprehensive Immigration Reform adds tarnish to the soul of our Nation. The question arises, can this nation be saved. Let us save this nation, not by providing amnesty but by providing an earned pathway to citizenship. In the name of Justice, in the Name of righteousness, in the Name of The Divine, pass comprehensive immigration reform.
Well, as long as the good reverend is skating that close to sacrilege, let me just say that, as for me and my house, we will not look to Rev. Rodriguez, to Rep. Gutierrez, to the ACLU, to the clergy or any other of the promoters of engorged labor markets to save the soul of our nation.
Unfortunately for the workers of this nation, the elitist heads of the unions have joined the Gutierrez Gang.
Who will speak up for the workers of the nation?
Who will speak up for the unemployed of this nation?
The 920,000 members of NumbersUSA will, if nobody else will. If you aren't a member, sign up now. It's free and we will give you a great opportunity to fight against the growing insanity of trying to end a jobs depression by importing millions more foreign workers.
