New Rasmussen Poll Shows No Trust In Government's Will to Secure Border
If a law is passed to secure the border, prevent future illegal immigration and allow those who entered the country illegally to stay, how likely is it that the federal government will actually secure the border and prevent illegal immigration?
Only 5% of likely voters believe the federal government believe it is very likely that the government will secure the border and prevent future illegal immigration, 20% said somewhat likely, 41% said not very likely, and 24% said not at all likely.
Voters were also asked: Should those who are now in this country illegally be granted legal status right away or should that come only after the border is secured?" Only 18% said "they should be granted legal status right away" while 62% said "legal status should come only after the border is secured."
The poll shows that American voters don't trust the government to get the job done when it comes to border security and don't like one of the key tenents of the Senate's immigration bill: give illegal aliens legal status before securing the border.
