Former HR Worker Arrested on Identity Fraud Charges
ICE arrested a former worker in the Pilgrim’s Pride human resources department last week on charges of identification document fraud and aggravated identity theft, according to an ICE news release. The indictment against Hope Anguiano alleges that she and a co-defendant, Lucio Ramirez, conspired to provide identification documents to illegal aliens who did not have proper identification when applying for a job at the Pilgrim’s Pride Mount Pleasant, Texas facility.
The indictment is the result of ongoing investigations following the raids in April, 2008 involving Pilgrim's Pride chicken plants in five states. ICE agents arrested more than 300 illegal aliens for immigration violations or document fraud in those raids after penetrating a document and identity fraud ring that involved Pilgrim’s Pride supervisors and HR workers.
Anguiano could face up to 15 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000 if convicted.
