Rep. John Carter Joins 5-for-5 Club
Rep. John Carter (R-Texas) has joined the NumbersUSA 5-for-5 club. On Thursday, he added his name to the list of co-sponsors for Rep. Bob Goodlatte's (R-Va.) SAFE for America Act (H.R.704) that would end the Visa Lottery. By doing so, he has now co-sponsored at least one bill in each of our 5 Great Bill categories.
Rep. Carter has done more than just co-sponsor the 5 Great Bills, he introduced one of them. The E-LAW Act (H.R.800) would require all business (private and public) to use E-Verify within 2 years. The bill would also require business owners to verify the status of all current employees within the 2 year time frame. His bill would also reinstate the No-Match program that notifies employers and individuals when a social security number is associated with multiple employers, and it would increase fines and penalties for employers that continue to hire illegal workers.
The E-LAW Act has been endorsed by NumbersUSA President Roy Beck.
"NumbersUSA is pleased to express our support for your Jobs Recovery by Ensuring a Legal American Workforce (or E-LAW) Act," wrote Beck in his endorsement letter. "NumbersUSA shares your belief that one of the easiest, most effective jobs measures Congress can take is to move illegal foreign workers out of their U.S. jobs, opening them up for unemployed Americans."
In addition to introducing the E-LAW Act and co-sponsoring the bill to end the visa lottery, Rep. Carter has also co-sponsored legislation that would end birthright citizenship, end chain migration, and assist local municipalities enforce immigration laws.
Rep. Carter represents Texas' 31st Congressional District. He has served in Congress since 2003 and has earned a career B+ immigration-reduction grade.
