Majority of Nevadans Support Arizona-style Immigration Enforcement Law
A new poll conducted by the Las Vegas Review-Journal reveals that 57% of the state's residents support an Arizona-style immigration enforcement law. The poll asked respondents if they would support allowing local law enforcement to inquire about immigration status after they've already stopped an individual.
The poll was conducted by Mason-Dixon Polling & Research on behalf of the newspaper.
"It could have just stayed in Arizona, but people have turned it into a national issue," said Brad Coker, managing director of Mason-Dixon. "People are boycotting the state. People in the (Obama) administration have been criticizing the law. It has become a passionate issue."
Nevada Senator and Majority Leader Harry Reid has helped take the lead on a mass amnesty bill in the Senate. He has called Arizona's immigration enforcement law the exact reason why Congress needs to pass immigration reform.
