Democratic Rep. Jim Matheson Urges White House to Require E-Verify for Federal Contractors
Utah Democratic Representative Jim Matheson wrote a letter to Pres. Barack Obama urging him to require E-Verify for federal contractors. Pres. Obama delayed a 2008 executive order that would require federal contractors to use E-Verify. It was the third time the order had been delayed and the fourth by Obama. Rep. Matheson's letter was signed by 12 members of the Blue Dog Coalition members.
We ask that you reconsider your decision to delay the implementation of a rule requiring federal contractors to use E-Verify. .. We feel the Administration has had ample time to assess this initiative and should not delay its execution for the fourth time this year.
If our government is truly committed to enforcing its laws and ensuring that the jobs it creates go to those who are legally authorized to have them, it must lead by example."
