True Reformers Win in Georgia Primaries
Two candidates who completed our Immigration-Reduction Survey and have been identified as "True Reform" candidates won their primary races on Tuesday. Mike Keown won the Republican nomination in District 2 with 80.9% of the vote and will face incumbent Sanford Bishop (D-Ga.) in the November general election. Austin Scott won the Republican nomination in District 8, capturing 52.4% of the vote. He will face incumbent Jim Marshall (D-Ga.) in the general election.
True Reformer Lee Hawkins has a sizable second place lead for the Republican nomination in District 9. The winner, Tom Graves received 49.5% of the vote with 99% of the precincts reporting. If Graves does not win 50% of the vote, he will face Hawkins in a run-off on August 10. The winner will run unopposed in the general election.
Also headed for a run-off is the Republican nomination for Governor of Georgia. Former Rep. Nathan Deal, who also is the author of the Birthright Citizenship bill in the House, will face former Georgia Secretary of State Karen Handel.
