Chipotle Fires Hundreds of Illegal Aliens in Minnesota
National restaurant chain, Chipotle Mexican Grill, has fired hundreds of illegal aliens from its workforce in Minnesota freeing up jobs for unemployed Americans. The chain announced that a substantial number of its 1200 employees in 50 restaurants across the state had been identified by a federal immigration audit of their employee records.
An unidentified source from Immigration and Customs Enforcement said the number of workers fired was around 350, but protesters of the firings said the number is closer to 700. ICE would not comment on the firings.
Chipotle said they gave each suspected employee a chance to provide legal documents that they were legal to work in the United States, and if they couldn't produce the documents, they were fired in accordance with U.S. law.
