Majority of Americans Oppose Birthright Citizenship for Illegal Aliens
Rasmussen has just released a new poll which shows that 61% of American voters oppose giving citizenship to the children of illegal aliens. That number is higher than Rasmussen's last survey in August and is the highest the number has ever been. Conversely, 28% of voters believe the opposite -- that the children of illegal aliens should receive citizenship at birth (a number that is down 6 points since August).
The poll also surveyed voters on other illegal immigration issues. Rasmussen found that 84% of voters believe that an individual must prove he/she is in the country legally before receiving federal government services. However, voters are evenly split as to whether it's better to keep immigration enforcement in the hands of the federal government or if states should be able to enforce immigration laws as well.
