Hispanic Americans

Vulnerable Americans

Amnesty for illegal workers is not just a slap in the face to black Americans. It's an economic disaster. I see illegal immigration and the adverse impact that it has on the political empowerment of African Americans, and the impact it has on the job market. T. Polling Firm Latino Decisions Refuses to Acknowledge Trump Gains with Hispanic Voters

One of the storylines that emerged following Donald Trump’s victory on November 8 was that President-elect Trump outperformed Mitt Romney’ s 2012 showing with Hispanic voters. Trump also approached the 31 percent of Hispanic vote that Senator John McCain received in 2008, after McCain had spent the three years prior to the election pushing a massive amnesty bill in the Senate.

100 years ago, WWI shut off immigration & forced employers to recruit U.S. workers -- WHY NOT TODAY?

My commentary today in the Capitol Hill publication, Roll Call, addresses the meaning of Prof. Brat's defeat of U.S. House Majority Leader Cantor and the need for Congress to change the debate from HOW and HOW MUCH to increase immigration to WHETHER to increase or reduce the numbers. You may not be aware of the incredibly positive results for a large segment of our population when World War One suddenly cut off immigration a century ago. Take a look . . .

The real immigration principles that House GOP leaders seem prepared to ignore

I hope House Republican leaders will surprise me and prove me wrong when they release their Immigration Principles that the news media have been hyping the last two weeks. Here are seven ethical principles that I believe should and can undergird all immigration policies.

Illegal alien from Canada OR unemployed Hispanic American?

The title of this blog was the choice of priorities that I offered Thursday in the studios of Fusion/Univision in Miami.  While this giant ABC-owned network aimed at Hispanic audiences is almost consumed with aiding as many illegal aliens as possible, I tried to raise the idea of helping as many Hispanic Americans as possible.

'Day of Dignity & Respect' rallies especially undermine real immigrants

Rallies planned for 150 cities tomorrow as a "National Day of Dignity and Respect for Immigrants" could just as easily be called the "Anti-Labor Day" or the "Immigrant Perpetual Poverty Day."  Everything about the rallies is aimed at creating open borders with gigantic future flows of foreign workers that will further depress U.S. wages and force more Americans to become dependent upon the government.

Our op-ed in USA Today -- Immigration enforcement is a big benefit to Hispanic American voters

(Editor's Note: USA Today's main editorial this morning castigates the Republican platform for its support for various immigration enforcement, saying it is anti-Hispanic and drives Hispanic voters away from Republican candidates. USA Today generously asked NumbersUSA President Roy Beck to write an op-ed giving a very different point of view.  Check out the debate.)

Fla. Vote Winners Are Latino Dignity & Self-Deportation

Offered a stark choice on the illegal immigration issue, Florida Latino Republicans today broke nearly 2-1 for the candidate with the firmest opposition to amnesty and strongest support for enforcement.  It was a strong rebuke of the majority of media commentators who insist that Latino-Americans can only be won by promising rewards for lawbreaking. And it was a victory for the concept of self-deportation as an alternative to mass deportation and mass legalization.

The Associated Press bungles a fact; makes bigger error

The mainstream media writes a lot of stories that perpetuate the myth that voters of Hispanic ancestry have a "comprehensive immigration reform" litmus test. Experts who study this theory disagree. American voters of Hispanic descent have historically voted in larger numbers for Democrats than they have for Republicans. But they are neither as monolithic as the media implies and nor is immigration their primary concern.

CBS News recently reported some devastating statistics for Black Americans who are living with depression-era unemployment rates. Blacks are not the only ones hurting. Unemployment rates are high among almost every class of worker, especially Blacks, Latinos, and teenagers. CBS further reports that most graduating students don't have marketable skills. But the report ignored the federal government's failure to prevent U.S. employers from illegally displacing less-educated U.S. workers.

Hispanics like law and order too

Some pundits and political operatives — mostly Democrats — have already announced the demise of the Republican Party. They point to the growth of the Hispanic community and assert that the GOP needs to embrace amnesty for illegal immigrants to attract Hispanic voters.

But in the 1986 election, after a Republican president signed into law the largest amnesty for illegal immigrants in American history, only 23 percent of Hispanics voted for Republican candidates.

Hispanic Congressional Candidate Says Pro-Amnesty Republicans Reduce Their Hispanic Votes

My interest is not to help the Republican Party (or any other) but to note that the top leadership in the Republican Party is tone deaf when it continues to push GOP candidates to support "comprehensive immigration reform" (amnesty) as a way to gain Hispanic votes. For those of you who are Republicans, you now have a great tool to use with your Party leaders in the form of a brilliant essay by Hispanic congressional candidate Tom Garcia.

Pres. Obama's Advice on Yelling 'Racism' Is Good For Us & Especially the Pro-Amnesty Hate Groups

The Shirley Sherrod episode got a lot of journalists and politicians thinking this last week about how too many people far too quickly and easily toss around charges of racism without knowing the facts or the context. I found Pres. Obama's comment on ABC to be an excellent quote to offer back to the next pro-amnesty blogger, religious figure or politician who charges racism against our immigration-reduction movement or individuals within it.

Recent Media On Capturing Hispanic Vote Misses That Most Hispanics Think Immigration Too High

Highly paid PR firms for the open-borders lobby have gotten stories in many major newspapers this month suggesting that the only way to attract the Hispanic vote is to favor a comprehensive amnesty and also an increase in foreign workers. Pro-Amnesty Groups Are Anti-Hispanic-Americans (they prefer illegal workers over 9% unemployed Hispanics)

The lobbying today on Capitol Hill is intended mainly to intimidate Democratic Members of Congress into thinking that if they don't support Rep. Guitierrez (D-Ill.) and his amnesty plan that they will be seen as anti-Hispanic. But an amnesty would be the most anti-Hispanic action Congress could take in this time of raging unemployment, disproportionately high among Hispanic-Americans.
