In order to placate illegal-alien advocates who falsely claim the Administration has deported record numbers of illegal aliens, President Obama announced that DHS would review options for making immigration enforcement “more humane.” Translation: they’ll find more ways to ignore the law and make illegal aliens comfortable while the comprehensive amnesty alliance pursues House Republican hold-outs.

In a court order, Federal District Judge Andrew Hanen accused the Department of Homeland Security of helping to smuggle an illegal-alien girl into the U.S. to live with her mother. Judge Hanen said this was the fourth recent case in which the Border Patrol apprehended a “coyote” smuggling a child, then delivered the child to illegal-alien parents. In each case, taxpayers covered the expense.

A new Gallup poll finds that Americans aren't as enthusiastic about "immigration reform" as some Members of Congress and most of the main stream media would like you to believe. The poll asked Americans what is the most important problem facing the country today, and only 2% of respondents said that immigration was the top concern.

Deferred action applications continue at slower pace

What some initially perceived as an election-related drop in applications for deferred action - a federal program offering temporary legal status to young undocumented immigrants - has continued into December. U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services is reporting that the daily pace of incoming applications for the program continues to slow.

This is newsworthy because previous comprehensive immigration reform efforts since 1986 have produced 7 amnesties, none of which reduced illegal immigration. Migration Policy Institute Estimates 1.8 Million Illegal Aliens Eligible for Executive Amnesty

A new estimate from the Migration Policy Institute puts the number of illegal aliens who could receive amnesty from the Obama Administration's deferred action policy at 1.8 million. The number is up 500,000 from the institute's initial estimate, but takes the policy's procedures into account. The procedures were made public by the Department of Homeland Security late last week.
